Luxury bathrooms refurbished at stunning Elizabethan hotel

The Coach House accommodation at the beautiful sixteenth century Great Fosters hotel in Egham, Surrey has recently been completely refurbished. Each of the luxurious eleven bedrooms and suites has a contemporary bathroom which was exclusively designed and supplied by Original Bathrooms.

The original brief for the eleven bathrooms was received from the client in September 2007 and specified chic, contemporary designs that would harmonise with the Tudor architecture of the house and at the same time enhance the contemporary feel of the bedroom interiors. This presented a real challenge to the Original Bathrooms’ designers – one they met with style and skill. The final designs created a sensitive balance between the old architecture and the contemporary bathroom equipment. The brief also specified that the bathrooms should incorporate state-of-the-art sanitaryware to give maximum comfort and ease for the user in a calm, relaxing environment.

With this in mind, Original Bathrooms designed the bathrooms using some of the best sanitaryware products on the market. These included Laufen wcs, Grohe cisterns, Bette baths, Bauhaus basins, Signorini taps & shower mixers and Simpsons shower doors. The showers chosen were by Simpsons and where the Original Bathrooms’ design specified mood lighting the Signorini shower ceiling cassette with integral LV lights was used. The chrome accessories in all bathrooms were from the Pom d’Oro range.

Each bathroom was created by the Original Bathrooms’ design team to harmonise with its bedroom accommodation. Some have showers, some baths but all keeping a relaxed, modern theme as the common thread. The individuality of each bathroom design was accentuated by the inclusion of a unique feature such as a Nordic Vapourmist steam room in one, a freestanding roll-top bath in another or a separate shower area. All bathrooms incorporate undercounter washbasins in stylish granite or stone tops. The choice of ceramic floor and wall tiles was equally carefully chosen to complement the sanitaryware, using tiles from top suppliers such as Bisazza.

In addition to these stunning bathrooms, Original Bathrooms was commissioned to design and refit the Ladies and Gents cloakrooms in the Coach House. These were revamped using Laufen wcs, wall-hung Grohe cisterns, Original Bathrooms taps, Bauhaus washbasins, ceramic tiling and mood lighting. Accessories and mirrors were in chrome from the Pom d’Oro range.

The on-site work to fit these bathrooms began in May/June 2008 and took around eight months to complete. While Original Bathrooms did not fit out the bathrooms, their designers were constantly on site to oversee the client’s fitters, ensure that the final designs were followed precisely and that work was of the high quality and standard demanded by their designs. The refurbishment was finished on time and on budget, both major considerations for any large renovation project.

All the products detailed above are on display at Original Bathrooms’ stunning Richmond showrooms. They are pleased to work with both retail and trade enquiries as well as architects, contractors and interior designers, on a wide range of projects ranging from individual private bathrooms to complete commercial renovations.
With over 130 years’ trading behind them, Original Bathrooms care passionately about the industry and the suitability of the bathroom fittings they offer for sale. They only deal with sanitaryware of the highest quality from reliable, first-class European manufacturers.

Many of their products are exclusive thanks to long-established connections with suppliers who prefer their products to be handled by them, and the designs offered range from authentic reproductions of period bathroom equipment to state-of-the-art contemporary fittings and accessories.

In all this, Original Bathrooms are motivated by the desire to give a good service and maintain their family traditions. This philosophy, combined with their knowledge and experience gives them a unique position in the bathroom sector today.
